Russian dragoon Command group

Dragoons had to fight both mounted and dismounted. Therefore dragoon officers needed to combine talents of infantry and cavalry commanders. Russia had to fight with Turkey, which possessed numerous cavalry, 

as well as with European countries whose armies consisted mostly of infantry units. Is it no wonder that even foreigners wrote about the greatest zeal and diligence of Russian cavalry officers.
